At the end of the European Weightlifting Championships in Armenia’s capital Yerevan, Matthäus Hofmann won the bronze medal in the snatch.
In the category up to 102 kilos, Hofmann managed 172 kilos. In the duel rating he finished fifth with 373 kg.
National coach Almir Velagic was enthusiastic about the performance: “He trained very well in preparation and kept his cool during the decisive attempts in the competition. I am particularly happy for Matthäus, as he has often had bad luck with injuries in the past.”
The team of the Federal Association of German Weightlifters (BVDG) was represented in the title fights with five women and seven men.
