Hofmann rumbles after changing theater: “Kindergarten”

Jonas Hofmann indirectly accused those responsible at Borussia Mönchengladbach of having turned their fans against him.

After the 3-0 (2-0) of his new club Bayer Leverkusen in Gladbach, Hofmann apparently criticized Borussia sports director Roland Virkus in particular, without naming him.

The 31-year-old international was whistled at before the game at the official farewell to Borussia and during the game by the Gladbach fans.

Hofmann counters: “That’s complete nonsense”

“It was to be expected that there would be whistles. I think that was also influenced in the weeks before,” scolded Hofmann, who had played for Borussia for eight years. When asked in the “Sky” interview who he meant by that, Hofmann said: “I think we all know who it came from.”

Virkus in particular was very upset that Hofmann had included an exit clause in his contract in the summer and had switched to Leverkusen for ten million euros. The “manner” bothered him, Virkus said recently and spoke of the fact that Hofmann had first promised to stay in Gladbach and communicated his desire to change a day later.

Hofmann found clear words on this. “That’s complete nonsense. I never agreed. But that’s the last time I’ll say anything about it. It was a bit of kindergarten for me, to be honest,” complained the all-rounder. “Some should also take a proverb to heart, that means: Speech is silver, silence is golden.”
