The poker between FC Bayern and Tottenham Hotspur around Harry Kane is getting hotter and hotter. Now supervisory board member Uli Hoeneß gave spicy insights into the negotiations.
On the sidelines of FC Bayern’s training session, Hoeneß commented on the current status of Harry Kane on Saturday. “If his promise stays, we’ll get him. Then Tottenham will have to buckle,” said the honorary president.
Hoeneß also revealed: “Karl-Heinz Rummenigge speaks to him regularly.” Kane wanted to “play internationally”, emphasized the 71-year-old: “Tottenham will not be active there in the coming season – in contrast to our club. He now has another opportunity to come to a top club in Europe.”
No one can expect to complete such a transfer “in a week”. The advisory side, Kane’s father and brother, is very pleasant, Hoeneß emphasized: “They always stood by what they said.”
Kane is said to insist on a move to Bayern Munich. The striker has not yet received Tottenham’s approval. The 29-year-old’s contract with Spurs runs until 2024.
The Premier League club is said to be hoping that Kane will extend his working paper after all. A first offer from FC Bayern in the amount of 80 million euros is said to have already been rejected.
Levy as “savvy professional”
Above all, club boss Daniel Levy is considered a tough negotiating partner. “He’s a savvy, super professional. I respect him a lot. But on the other hand [beim FCB] are not people who have been doing this since yesterday,” said Hoeneß about the British.
In poker for Kane, play Levy for time. “He’s doing it cleverly. We have to have him [Levy] get as far as naming a number,” admitted Hoeneß.
FC Bayern is still pushing ahead with its efforts to get Kane. A Munich delegation is said to have traveled to London on Friday to explore the transfer of the English international. However, there is said to have been no breakthrough at the meeting dubbed “Secret Meeting” by “Bild”.
