Toen and February een baby stierf in een kinderopvang in het Gentse waarover al jaren serious klachten goods, probeerde de Vlaamse overheid de verantwoordelijkheid op all mogelijke manneren van zich af te schuiven. Het heette dat Kind en Gezin – de Dienst der crèches in Vlaanderen opvolgt – ‘t Sloeberhuisje zeer intensief had opgevolgd en Katrien Verhegge – de suffering ambtenaar van het overkoepelende department Opgroeien – declared in ‘De zevende dag’ that everything in hair is done om het drama te precomen. In the onderzoekscommissie bleek al dat iedere ambtenaar 220 voorzieningen moet opvolgen en dat het ziekteverzuim rond 13 per cent draait, dat is bijna drie keer zoveel than het landelijke middelde. Exit Verhegge?
Audit Vlaanderen stelde verder still vast dat er te weinig overleg is tussen Zorginspectie en Opgroeien, dat he onvoldoende ingezet wordt op sensibilisering van crèche-uitbaters en onthaalouders en dat er te weinig expertise is om financial problems te detecteren.
