The Palau de Plegamans and the Vila-Sana are the first finalists of the Rink Hockey Queen’s Cup, which takes place in the Onze de Setembre Pavilion in Lleida. In the match that opened the competition, the Palau, the recent European champion, beat a Cerdanyola who put up more of a fight than could have been anticipated.
Ivan Sánz’s girls saw how from the start of the match Cerdanyola wanted to take the initiative and after ten minutes, Maria Figuerola materialized her team’s intentions on the scoreboard. The Palau woke up after the goal and reacted through Aina Florenza who tied the game seven minutes before the break.
In a frenetic last minute, Cerdanyola went ahead again before Laura Puigdueta first and Mariona Colomer later turned it over with two claws. After the break, the match changed dynamics and the Palau dominated the match setting the pace and sentencing with the fourth goal, again from Aina Florenza.
The Lyceum rings the bell
Liceo and Vila-Sana had a real great match in the second semi-final. This time, the forecasts were not fulfilled and the Liceo gave the surprise and prevailed in the penalty shootout. The Galicians imposed their law from the beginning and ten seconds later María Sanjurjo was ahead of her team. Despite Vila-Sana’s quick reaction with a goal from Luchi Agudo, the A Coruña team were not intimidated and with goals from Soto and Sanjurjo, they once again took the lead.
Vila-Sana reacted again and with two more goals from Luchi Agudo took the game to extra time that left no one indifferent. Sanjurjo signed his third goal with a true work of art, but once again Vila-Sana responded, this time from a penalty, through Flor Felamini.
The penalty shootout had to decide who would win the day and thanks to the great performance of Vero Caretta, the Italian goalkeeper of the Liceo, and the goals of Soto and Gaete decided the lottery for a Liceo, which deservedly won the first bell of the Cup.
