With just over 2.5 minutes to go, Argentina tied the score via a tip-in from Maria Granatto from a penalty corner. In the shoot-outs, goalkeeper Josine Koning kept two Argentinian women from scoring. After the second miss, Fortuin gave the Netherlands a reassuring 3-1 lead. Fortuin remained calm and managed to pass the Argentine goalkeeper. Moments later, captain Xan de Waard made the decision (4-2).
