The Dutch hockey women will play against Belgium in the quarterfinals of the World Cup on Tuesday. Belgium was much too strong for Chile in the intermediate round on Saturday: 5-0. The Netherlands had won 3-1 against Chile in the group stage on Wednesday.
Belgium quickly distanced itself in the Wagener stadium. Stephanie Vandenborre converted a penalty corner in the 6th and 15th minute. In between, Justine Rasir also scored. The fourth goal was scored after 20 minutes by Charlotte Englebert, who scored from a penalty corner. Englebert made it 5-0 shortly after the break.
The Netherlands and Belgium will compete against each other in Amstelveen on Tuesday at 7.30 pm.
The German hockey players also qualified for the quarter-finals. The number 4 in the world won 1-0 against South Africa in the intermediate round. Captain Nike Lorenz scored the goal from a penalty corner. Germany will play in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, also in Amstelveen, against New Zealand.
