Hockey players Den Bosch not yet national champion

The hockey players of Den Bosch will play the decisive game for the national title on Sunday. The second game (best-of-3) against SCHC was lost 0-1 on Saturday.

The first game against SCHC from Bilthoven was won 3-1 by Den Bosch on Thursday. The third and decisive game will follow on Sunday, again in Den Bosch.

The women kept it exciting for a long time on Saturday. The first three quarters did not result in a goal, but in the fourth quarter SCHC used a penalty shot due to shoot. Yibbe Jansen scored the opening goal.

Margot van Geffen, who will exchange Den Bosch for HGC after this season, was satisfied with the game despite the defeat. “We created a lot of chances, right up to the end. I believed in it until the last second, so it’s a shame that it doesn’t work out, but nothing has been lost yet. Only in the last quarter did we show how strong we can be be, that’s too late. In the play-offs all the way, so that’s a shame. But now I can wear this suit one more time, so that’s nice too. On to tomorrow.”

Bossche pillars leave
In addition to Van Geffen, Lidewij Welten and Marloes Keetels will also put on the Bossche shirt for the last time on Sunday. Welten goes to Kampong and Keetels stops with top sport altogether.

The honors list of the Bossche hockey players is long. They can become national champions for the 21st time on Sunday. Since 1998, they have only handed the title to another club three times. That was always Amsterdam, in 2019, 2013 and 2009. No other hockey club won the title in the premier league so often.
