With ease, HC Bloemendaal won the EHL final against Rot-Weiss Koln on Easter Monday. In the rainy Wagener stadium it became 1-0 for the national champion. Teun Bein scored for Bloemendaal.
The European final battle started somewhat tentatively. Bloemendaal dominated with a lot of ball possession and had some opportunities, but Rot-Weiss Koln came out dangerous a few times via the counter. In the second quarter, the North Holland team had some opportunities via the necessary penalty corners, but at first this did not lead to a hit. Teun Beins only scored the fifth penalty corner for the reigning European champion.

After that it was often one-way traffic to the German goal, but Bloemendaal could not express that difference in goals. That gave the Rot-Weiss Koln faith in a good outcome in the second part of the match. Except for some tense moments, Bloemendaal was not really in danger and the team of trainer Rick Mathijssen won the European title for the third year in a row and defeated Rot-Weiss Koln in the final, just like last year.
In the women’s tournament, the final was between Den Bosch and Club Campo de Madrid. Here too, the win went to the Dutch team. The Brabant team won 1-0 and thus took the European title for the eighteenth time.
Reactions from trainer and players will follow later.
