Goals through penalty corners
Peillat had given Germany the lead after a penalty corner. When everything looked like a narrow victory for the DHB team, Spain managed to equalize in the final minute – also after a penalty corner.
Goalkeeper Alexander Stadler held on to victory in the penalty shoot-out. The 29-year-old Peillat was Olympic champion with Argentina in Rio in 2016, after his naturalization he has been eligible to play for Germany since February.
