Leon Draisaitl has scored a goal in the NHL for the first time since mid-December.
On Thursday, Germany’s athlete of the year 2020 scored his 22nd goal of the season in the North American ice hockey league in the 4: 2 (2: 0, 2: 2, 0: 0) home win of his Edmonton Oilers against the New York Islanders.
The 27-year-old Draisaitl scored Edmonton’s opening goal in the middle of the first third from the majority game. In addition, the native of Cologne prepared the 4:1 in the second round.
With 60 points, Draisaitl ranks second in the NHL behind his teammate Connor McDavid (75). Draisaitl had recently missed two games due to injury and returned to the ice on Tuesday.
German goalkeeper only replacement
Germany goalies Thomas Greiss (St. Louis Blues) and Philipp Grubauer (Seattle Kraken) were not used in their teams’ victories. Nashville Predators goaltender Juuse Saros saved 64 shots on goal in his team’s 5-3 (1-1, 2-2, 2-0) win over the Carolina Hurricanes. That’s the third most saves in NHL history. Ron Tugnutt has held the record since 1991 with 70 shots saved.
