A year ago, Lale Gül published her debut novel ‘I am going to live’. In that book, the Dutch with Turkish roots throws off her headscarf and mercilessly lashes out at the strict Islamic environment and family in which she grew up. Since then she has been threatened, the extreme right tries to put her in front of her, the left ignores her and a Netflix series about her is in the making. “I’m in danger,” she says. “But I’m not afraid.”
