The European football association Uefa has fined HJK 10,250 euros.
The fines concern the Europa League qualifying match between HJK and Silkeborg played in August.
The Helsinki club was fined as much as 8,000 euros for spectators who did not stay in their rows of benches during the match, but blocked the aisles in the stands. The 2,250 euro scrap came from throwing individual objects towards the field.
The size of the sanction surprised HJK.
– The club is shocked by the size of the fine imposed by UEFA and hopes that, especially in the Europa League matches, the spectators will have the patience to stay in their rows of benches and keep the stairs empty during the games, HJK wrote in the press release.
The Helsinki club will play a Europa League match against the Spanish Real Betis at their home field on Thursday. HJK hopes that the spectators do not cause the club more fines with their actions.
– In the European Games, the sanctions for other prohibited things, such as torches and other prohibited activities in the stands, are so huge for the Finnish club that HJK hopes for cooperation and understanding from the spectators in this matter.
HJK–Real Betis starts at 19:45.
