HJK announced on Thursday that the club will file criminal charges and seek damages from the people who ran onto the field at the beginning of September.

The European football association Uefa fined HJK a total of 18,000 euros for the events of the Europa League group match. The fines came from the home match against Real Betis.

– During the extra time of the Betis match and after the match ended, a total of six spectators ran onto the field from different parts of the stands, which is of course – regardless of the match – strictly prohibited. Uefa would fine HJK 8,000 euros for the exploits, HJK’s press release says.

The police have found out the identities of those who ran onto the field.

The home crowd was very vocal throughout the 90 minutes, and HJK’s game also went well, even though Betis took the victory with 2–0 numbers. However, according to the club, the cry of “Uefa mafia” was heard three times from the stands. Uefa didn’t like that, and sent a 10,000 euro fine to Töölö to the Club’s office.

– According to Uefa’s discipline, the shout in question is “a provocative message of an offensive nature”, so the club was fined 10,000 euros.

Over the years, the slogan criticizing Uefa has become common in various European football stadiums. Based on the fines, Uefa has taken tough measures to eradicate it.

FC Honka and HJK meet in the Veikkausliiga top-of-the-table battle on Thursday in Espoo.
