– The time has come to secure the Finnish championship.

This is what HJK announced on their Twitter account a few minutes before the start of Sunday night’s Haka match – and kept their words.

HJK claimed the full pot from the Tehtaa field and secured their third consecutive championship at the same time. The difference to KuPS, which is lurking in second place, stretched to four points again.

David Browne scored the only hit of the match. He played Santeri Väänänen deftly together, rushed greedily into the box and placed the ball in the bottom right corner.

The championship is HJK’s 16th in the Veikkausliiga era. The total number of Finnish championships is 32.

KuPS beat Inter in the match played earlier on Sunday Diogo Tomasin and Janis Ikaunieks with hits. The full pot secured KuPS second place.

The final round of the Veikkausliiga will be played on Sunday next week.
