Liike Nyt’s chairman, member of parliament and presidential candidate Harry “Hjallis” Harkimo said on Saturday evening’s live The song of my life – broadcast a painful story about school bullying.
Harkimo says that he has been bullied at school – as have all his children. It turned out to be Harkimo’s “song of life”. Tommi Läntinen It hurts deep in the heart. The song was interpreted by the singer Ilta in the program.
Harkimo explains that his time at school was traumatic for him. Dyslexia brought its own challenges, but being bullied at school made school agonizing.
– When they bully, they don’t understand how deep it hurts – as they say in this song.
– I can still see the face of the guy who bullied me. I see that jacket. He had a green landing gear. I still recognize it. It sometimes comes to my dreams, Harkimo described in the program.
He said in the program that he ran into his bully at a political event a couple of years ago.
– He came in front of me. He took some brochure and spoke something. I got such a shock that I couldn’t speak anything. I just stood there. I only realized after he had left that it was this guy, says Harkimo.
Harkimo also told how it looked to parents when their own children were bullied at school. Harkimo says that his Dan-his son was perhaps the worst bullied of the boys.
– It is also very difficult for a parent. Danne was sitting on the bed and I asked why are you sitting – you should be sleeping. He said “I’m sitting here because it takes longer to fall asleep and it takes a lot longer before I have to go to school”. That’s when you know there’s a really big problem, says Harkimo.
Harkimo emphasizes that the experience of bullying does not end when school ends, but can continue throughout life.
