Hjallis Harkimo began to regret

Hjallis Harkimo, who turned 70, regrets many things in his life. Despite this, he feels that he has lived a good life.

Liike Nyt party founder, MP and presidential candidate Hjallis Harkimo is celebrating his 70th birthday at Helsinki’s Old Student Hall. The guest list is long and the champagne is flowing.

Harkimo sums up the party buzz that he doesn’t even realize that he’s really 70 years old.

– I have always felt the same way. Of course, he gets a little older, stiffer and moves a little worse. Now that I’ve been going to the gym and doing more sports, it’s gotten better too. Of course, it’s always easier to make some small mistakes, Harkimo tells Iltalehte at his party.

“No need to think”

Harkimo has influenced the hockey world for decades, sailed numerous times across the Atlantic and three times around the world.

– I have thought many times that if you do too many things all the time, does life go by too quickly. It’s not like that, Harkimo thinks.

– I look at solo sailing with gratitude, because solo sailing is the biggest thing I’ve ever done, he continues.

In 2020, Harkimo stated Ilta-Sanomthat he doesn’t regret selling the hockey club Jokers.

Now the mind has changed.

– I regret selling the Jokers to the Russians and many other things. After all, there are things in life that you regret, but when you can’t get the past back, it’s pointless for you to think about those things.

However, Harkimo feels that he has lived much longer. Above all, he is satisfied with what he has done during his life. However, one dream has yet to be achieved.

– I want to win in the presidential election, he says firmly.

Survived everything

Harkimo has three sons: Joel, Leo and Dan. The father looks at his sons’ lives with gratitude.

– They have done good things. I have no complaints and have never had any problems with them.

– I can’t regret that my loved ones are in the public eye, but they have had a much more difficult life, at least the children. They are Harkim, and there aren’t very many of us. You immediately know who it is, says Harkimo.

Hjallis’ private life has been discussed in public for decades. It has included divorces, new relationships, the birth of children, and of course successful and failed businesses. This does not bother Harkimo anymore.

– It’s just that when you go public, you have to endure it. Can not help it.

Although life has tested Harkimo and the publicity has been grueling from time to time, Harkimo has solved his case without special help.

– I have coped with everything quite well, and badly. Yes, it will work out. And now it’s been so long that I don’t even care. At this age, you shouldn’t care.

When you ask Harkimo what he would like to say to his young self, the answer comes immediately.

– It’s worth making the most of your life, study and get a job you like, he decides and throws himself into the middle of the party guests.
