Two years ago, Port of Ostend started renovating the dilapidated building. “This building was occupied by customs for, for example, the stacking of confiscated cigarettes or whiskey. But it had been empty for a long time. In 2018 it was a ruin. In 2019, we came up with the plan to turn it into a new building,” says Dirk Declerck, CEO of Port Oostende.
