Historic fisherman’s cottage in Blankenberge for sale
Several generations of the fishing family Debruyne, nicknamed the Majuttes, lived in the small building. The living room and the kitchen date from the year 1700 and 1800 respectively. At one time the family of fourteen lived under one roof. They led a hard life because the largest child mortality in the region occurred in their Breydelstraat, just behind the sea dike. The fisherman Pé Majutte was the last descendant.
Pieter Gadeyne took over the Huisje van Majutte in 2015 and turned it into a popular tourist attraction. It is full of authentic artifacts such as a Norwegian foghorn. The owner wants to resell the unique home, but attaches a high emotional value to it. “I would really like to find someone who wants to do something with it in the same style or with respect for the house,” concludes Gadeyne.
