‘His TV break really went way too far’

Danny de Munk has made his TV comeback in the new RTL 4 show Tulips from Antwerp, which was already shown yesterday in Flanders and will soon also be shown in our country. “His TV break went too far.”

More than three months after it was decided not to prosecute Danny de Munk for rape, he makes his comeback on television. He appeared yesterday at our southern neighbors in the television show Tulpen from Antwerp, which should also see the light of day with us in the summer, if that will happen at all after all the damning reviews.

Danny back on TV

Bart Ettekoven thinks it’s a good thing, says the show connoisseur Show news. “It’s nice to see him pick it up again. It is striking that it is precisely in this, the program that wanted to be very sacred when Bart Peeters wanted to sing a song by Marco Borsato. Oh, well, the management of RTL put a stop to that.”

RTL preferred not to do that. “Because that is a sensitive issue at the moment, they said. “Oh, I’ll do something from Lil Kleine.” Shouldn’t! And now they’ve put Danny there. I think it’s good to see, because he is in principle cleared of blame by the Public Prosecution Service. They saw no reason to pursue it further in that case.”

‘Canceling complicated’

RTL 4 canceled Danny at the last minute for I Can See Your Voice when a report was made against him. Tooske Ragas: “Yes, canceling is very complicated. Once you start it, you make it very difficult for yourself.”

Ronald Molendijk then: “Yes, according to RTL, cancellation is in any case up to a decision by the Public Prosecution Service or a judge. Then you are okay again.”

Understandable, says Patty Brard. “I do understand that if you look at the victims, they take a break. A kind of bench.”

Ronald: “No, because so far I don’t think they are victims but reporters.”

RTL takes Danny completely in favor again. “As far as we are concerned, the way is also open again for other programs with Danny,” said the channel.

‘went too far’

Ronald thinks it’s ridiculous that Danny had to sit in the break room at all. “Can’t you just ask someone like that? Danny is nothing but someone who just goes to the office for that matter, right? Then you can also just ask, “Danny, did that happen, yes or no?” If he says ‘no’…”

Then you just have to believe him, says Ronald. “What you do with that is that you lose Danny’s career… RTL is big, has a name, a press release is issued and then everyone who organizes a party says: ‘Yes, then you are no longer welcome with me either.’

Ronald is more of the Talpa model, where it doesn’t matter at all what someone has on his record. “It can also be very nice if you say as RTL: ‘We will stand aside for the time being’?”
