In Ukraine there are up to -15 degrees at night. A little boy, wrapped up in a colorful checked winter coat, a hood pulled over his head, a hat underneath, alone on the street.
His face is contorted with grief, he’s holding a plastic bag in his hand.
The video with the little boy became known around the world on Tuesday. The little boy: a refugee child from Ukraine. On the border with Poland. Allegedly alone, without parents, siblings, relatives. Hundreds of thousands of people were moved to tears by these images.
Now the relieving certainty: Valerij (4) is safe!
The Polish border police now said on Twitter: “At the border crossing he received sweet gifts from officials. He and his family are safe in Poland.” (clicking on the tweet to enlarge it opens a larger photo where border police say the boy is in the bottom right corner)

What happened to the friends, the relatives of the little refugee – uncertain. It is currently not possible to verify who the adults in the photo are or where they are from.
