Hardy Krüger died at the age of 93 in Palm Springs, California, as his Hamburg agency announced, citing his wife Anita (70). He was a great actor, and sometimes not always an easy person. This is also evident in his relationship with his son Hardy Krüger Junior, who only found out about his father’s death from the digital media.
After the separation from his second wife Francesca, Hardy Junior’s mother, the connection to his father gradually broke off, the son, who also played, told the “Bild am Sonntag”. At first he tried. “I was often in America with my sister. But at the latest when I started my own family and had other questions as a result, it became less.”
Already at the 2019 interview, he feared that it was a separation forever. “Of course, that’s always present. The thought that he dies and that we haven’t seen each other before, hurts me a lot too. I always let him know what’s happening with me. But it’s his decision whether to act on it. I don’t want to blame myself for that either.”
A year later he said to “Bild”: “My father is a person who has experienced so many things in his life. And if something was painful for him, he always burned the bridges behind him. He wants peace and quiet in California.”
Despite the cold relationship, Hardy Krüger Junior publishes an emotional farewell after the death of his father. “Again such a moment! You hold your breath, the world stands still and you realize once again – all of this will eventually happen.” They had not seen each other for seven years. Now the “Krüger Caravan” is moving on, he writes via Instagram. The post shows a private family photo from childhood.
“What remains is love, respect and my deepest wish that your path will now be a peaceful and happier one. Over there on the other side. Here the last curtain has fallen on the stage of the world and the world bows to you, father! Words fail me, as I often do when I try to describe something that has too often gone unspoken.
