Tom Brady is considered the best quarterback in football history. After his career, he is still present as co-owner of a team and TV expert – and now surprises with a statement about his dog.

Tom Brady has long since ended his career on the football field, but the seven-time Super Bowl champion is currently attracting attention away from sports. This time with an unusual story: The former star quarterback claims his current dog is a clone.

Brady said on Tuesday in a statement from the biotech company Colossal that his dog Junie was genetically identical to his late dog Lua. Lua, a pit bull mix, was part of the family for many years and was adopted with his ex-wife Gisele Bündchen. Lua died in December 2023; the couple’s marriage had already ended in divorce the year before.

Brady, now co-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders and a TV pundit, said, according to the company: “I love my animals. They mean everything to me and my family.” That’s why he contacted the company before the dog’s death. Lua’s blood was taken using a non-invasive method – the basis for the later clone.
