The activities that offer the possibility of disconnection, self-knowledge and peace became the favorites of the 2022 season. yoga on the beach and the meetings of meditation in front of the sea attract tourists of all ages. And, more and more, brands, inns and hotels try to generate this type of space among their proposals. The hippie spirituality chic came to the coast.
The Yoga classes they are the fort of the inns more exclusive as well as hotels, which organize activities in common spaces for their guests. The guided meditationson the other hand, are the favorites of those who want tranquility in the open air.
Eugenia Farina She is an Ayurvedic yoga teacher in Pinamar and, although she has a space where she teaches regular classes throughout the year, three summers ago she began to work harder in season. This 2022 she found her at the head of a project at the Registered Marketing Space inn, at the El Pajaro spa and at a hotel in Valeria del Mar called “Valeria House”. She acknowledges that “yoga is in fashion” and that the visibility that the discipline has had for some time made it become another tourist activity.
Silvina Lamorte She is also a yoga teacher and, in her case, she opted for meditations aimed at tourists. Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday she makes an open call for those who want to contemplate the sunrise with a guided meditation at the Cozumel spa, in Cariló. In addition, this summer she organized a day at the Glof Club in Cariló. “Before, these were more hippie activities and now we see that this has changed because they have a very particular interest in sponsoring them, something that did not happen in other times”, he says.
Anti-stress
Both Eugenia and Silvina agree that one of the signs that proves the explosion of this type of activity is the variety of people who join, and they agree that this summer there was a peculiarity: they joined more and more men to classes that, at another time, were considered exclusively from the feminine universe.
“There is everything. In the second fortnight there was a 13-year-old girl who came with her parents and an 80-year-old lady for the whole month. There are very few men in my year classes, but many more came during the season”, assures Eugenie. “In January a mother came with her daughter almost every morning and a few days ago a group of twenty-year-olds appeared who had gotten up early exclusively for meditation. I like that more men are coming. In the last meeting, one of about 40 years came because his girlfriend had given him the recommendation and a much older man, about 60, “added Silvina.
The search of all these people is the same: find an activityanti-stress”. In these summer meetings, people used to this type of activity meet others who are joining for the first time. Therefore, the search for teachers is linked to generating a moment that can be enjoyed by both a beginner and someone with experience.
Eugenia recognizes, however, that the vacation mode influences the way she teaches her classes. “Our intention is that they can connect with their body and feel good. What we do in a spa it is not a pure yoga class. We do work on postures, but we leave out all the philosophy of the discipline and all the theory because in this type of space it is very difficult to transmit it”, he maintains.
“In my case, the idea is to guide the sunrise meditation so that people can also focus on contemplation. I think that the screens, the pace of life we lead and the amount of stimuli to which we are exposed made us stop contemplating. The day he organized at the Golf Club of Cariló, unlike those held in front of the sea, was held at sunset and with music. The slogan was to go dressed in white.

Both Eugenia’s classes and Silvina’s meetings are free and open to the public. The idea, they agree, is that tourists dare to try something new in a context other than their routines. In most paradors where activities of this type are carried out, the same modality is repeated.
The profitability of these spaces, in season, does not come from the hand of a fee that the student has to pay. Paradors and hotels hire instructors to make a difference from their competitors and there are more and more brands that sponsor to private teachers, as in the case of Eugenia, who, at the end of each meditation, offers collagen from a brand that tries to increase its visibility as a gift to the participants.
Gone is the fashion for spas that offer sports activities in the sun with the promise of burning calories. This year everyone wants to kick back and relax.
