Sido with first solo track of 2023, LIZ about female dominance, Kontra K & Clueso about “Soft Pillows” and more.
While last Friday (October 13th) we got a lot of international output and didn’t quite know whether we should look to Germany or the USA, this time the focus is shifting to German rap. However, that doesn’t mean there were any less eye-catchers – because Sido returned with his first solo track of the year, Kontra K teamed up with Clueso for “Weichekissen” and LIZ gives another taste of her album AMY WINEHOUZE. We took a closer look at four tracks.
Sido – “You don’t love me”
Musically, Sido 2023 mainly offers features so far – with arrest warrant, PA Sports, Kontra K and the list is even longer. With “You don’t love me,” the German rapper is releasing his first solo single this year. With both the title and the hook, Sido alludes to Sabrina Setlur’s hit of the same name from 1997. In the track, the 42-year-old addresses dependence on a loved one and the heartbreak that comes with it. He lyrically emphasizes love, vulnerability and uncertainty regarding the feelings of the other person. The music video also focuses on the meaning of the song, as it features Kassandra Wedel translating the lyrics into sign language.

Kontra K ft. Clueso – “Soft Pillows”
In their first track together, Kontra K and Clueso talk about the harshness of the truth, which not even “soft pillows” can cushion. Things that seem to contradict each other and yet go hand in hand. A reality in which actions do not speak for emotions. The beat, produced by Djorkaeff and Beatzarre, gives another taste of Kontra K’s eleventh album THE HOPE IS STEALING FROM ME, which will be released on November 10th.

LIZ – “Driving”
In “Fahren” LIZ turns the tables as she makes it clear lyrically that she can buy her partner anything he wants. In doing so, she celebrates her financial independence from men and makes it clear that women can also buy Chanel or expensive trips for men. LIZ casually emphasizes that women can also be the dominant part and/or financially stronger.
Ufo361 – “VNVKIN”
“VNVKIN” is another track from the mixtape SONY, which will be released on January 4th, 2024. To a hard sound from Bafani, Jimmy Torrio and Neal & Alex, Ufo361 raps about his skills, money and his successes. In the hook, the rapper also makes a small allusion to the “Star Wars” character Anakin Skywalker: “Darklands X, yes, I feel like Anakin.”
