Hip hop recap: With Marsimoto, Prinz Pi and Luvre47 ft. Disarstar & Tjark

A lot has happened in the last few weeks. Among other things, “Correctiv” uncovered a deportation plan by right-wing and AfD representatives. A meeting that fatally underlines Germany’s shift to the right. It is therefore hardly surprising that pop culture is now using pen and paper to draw attention to systematic circumstances. And what genre – except perhaps rock – can hold up a mirror better than rap? In addition, Prinz Pi releases the second part of his eleven-year-old single “Dumm”, Luvre47 ft. Disarstar and Tjark draw attention to class differences, and Marsimoto underlines what the “ideal world” could look like in the future if nothing changes.

Prince Pi – “Stupid Pt. 2″

In 2013, Prince Pi’s infamous album KOMPASS WITHOUT NORDEN was released, in which “Dumb” was on the tracklist. Now the 44-year-old has released the second part of the single on his POLARIS EP, which is coming in February. Appropriately, the cover is also a homage to the LP, as it shows the rapper in 3/4 profile in front of a picture of the sky. Instead of sunglasses, however, he now wears reading glasses, and his voice now seems a little deeper. However, the theme of the single remains the same: the desire to be as stupid as ignorant routine fanatics of the wealthy middle class. Prince Pi speaks satirically about the hope of becoming happier by looking away – or at least being able to pretend.

Marsimoto – “Ideal World”

The extraterrestrial alter-ego of the German rapper Marteria says goodbye after 17 years with his last album NO INTELLIGENCE, which is scheduled to be released on April 20th. With “Heile Welt” comes the second foretaste of the new work after “GAGA”. Typically for aliens, Marsimoto looks at the Earth and the events that happen on it from space. On a sample from 1971, he gives us an insight into a post-apocalyptic future in which at 60 degrees no one lives and therefore no problem in the world: “And from up here the world is so beautiful/Yes, the person who was Here’s the problem.”

Luvre47 ft. Disarstar & Tjark – “Rubbish”

In “Trümmer” the trio addresses the lack of perspective and helplessness in the block. In doing so, they underline how people in poverty are overlooked by the system and at the same time criticized by politicians who cannot judge such a life. In the track, Luvre47, Tjark and Disarstar describe people’s greed for money and how classification puts the value of money above that of people. The dark, emotional atmosphere is rounded off again by a smooth beat and the calm melody of DTP.

“War’ hate, the way politicians talk and talk/But we haven’t seen our lives for a day/Yes, carry the bags with seventy and back/If the elevator doesn’t work for weeks in the tenth
/Yes, tell me how to get full with nothing between your teeth/Lots of problems and pain in the soul/They evade taxes and talk about rules.”
