We listened to and rated the releases of Casper & Cro, Layla, Haiyti and PARTYNEXTDOOR.
Once again the time has come: Release Friday is here and brings us melancholy flashbacks, love dramas and summery vibes. We looked at the releases by Casper featuring Cro, Layla, Haiyti and PARTYNEXTDOOR and give you our summary here.
Casper ft. Cro – “Summer”
Casper has already announced his sixth album NUR LIEBE, ALMER for November 24th. For the second single “Summer” he lets an old love blossom again with Cro. Because the two rappers worked together on the single “Nie wieder” in 2012, which was rather unannounced at the time. In the video for “Summer”, the two German rappers are in front of a residential building, on the balconies of which you can see the different lives of the neighborhood. On a beat by Hitimpulse and nilly, Casper reflects on himself and his life. Any missed opportunities, the feeling of cold and loneliness that kindles a longing for sunshine and warmth.
“Calendar says ‘May’, but it feels like winter/As long as I can remember, always just the spinner/blinds closed, because there’s a thunderstorm in my head”
Matching the song title, the lyrics are underscored by a calm, summery melody. A style of music that clings to the typical rap style of Casper as well as Cro and sweetens our summer without being pseudo-optimistic.
Layla – “fruit juice”
Speaking of summer vibes! Layla takes us to the pool and beach in the video for “Juice”. Following her previously released single ‘Waterloo’, in which she mourns a lost love story, the rapper brings us confidence and positive energy. Her rap style is very reminiscent of hers In 2021 she released the EP TRABOE, in which she celebrates herself and her skills. However, the beat of “Fruchtsaft” is completely opposite to their EP. It’s not a laid back hip-hop sound anymore than Stoopid and Oh.no.ty. add dynamics to the song through electronic elements.
Layla released her two songs “Pose” and “Poster Girl” last year. While the latter single reflects her old flow, with “Pose” and “Fear Juice” Layla ventures into a new musical style – which suits her very well.
Haiyti – “Tell me”
After their track “Leicht Mit Dir”, which was released at the beginning of June, the lyrical sequel is now coming with “Sag Mir”. While Haiyti tells us about a toxic love story in Easy with You, where the presence of the other person feels better than it should, Haiyti seems to have finished with the old drama in Tell Me. On a beat by Bounce Brothas, the 30-year-old raps about an imaginary partner in crime she’s been looking for in nightlife but hasn’t found yet:
“Tell me, tell me where you are/Because there’s no way back for me/I haven’t had any luck yet/And maybe you don’t exist either”
PARTYNEXTDOOR – “Resentment”
In “Resentment” PARTYNEXTDOOR talks about a partnership in which one cannot rely on the other. A relationship lacking the necessary respect and trust. Accompanied by a smooth and PARTYNEXTDOOR-typical beat, the US rapper closes the love story:
“Thinking about getting even, but I ain’t even aspire to get that low/I just want to know what we’re waiting for, baby/I won’t keep bringing up the past, I won’t keep trying to run it back/I won’t keep standing for it (lack of respect)”
A similar theme can also be found in his recently released single “Her Old Friends”. In it, the 30-year-old raps about his distrust of a woman who is encouraged by her old friends by doing nothing to cheat.
