Hip hop recap: with Casper, Badmómzjay, Luciano and Jack Harlow

This time it’s not about big cars and big money, but rather about big emotions.

Now the vulnerable side is pushed more. Casper admits that demons are keeping him on his toes, Badmómzjay deals with a rollercoaster love story that was supposed to last for life, and Luciano explains in detail that he can only rely on his “Familia”.

Casper – “something from there (wide awake)”

With “something from there (wide awake)”, Casper gives a fourth taste of his album ONLY LOVE, ALWAYS, which will be released on November 24th. Lyrically, the German rapper talks about demons that keep him awake at night. An almost unbearable insomnia that you want to escape from and can’t do without tablets. The accompanying music video shows a woman storming a hospital in a desperate search for medication. The woman: Actress Lena Klenke, who is known, among other things, from the Netflix series “How To Sell Drugs Online (Fast)”.

“I’m awake/Please prescribe something for me that will help/Because my thoughts don’t stay still day and night.”

Badmómzjay feat. Takt32 & Vito – “4 Life”

The 21-year-old swears by a love that lasts “4 Life”. In addition, Badmómzjay brings in the singer Vito as a feature on the track, alongside the rapper Takt32. This time she herself sings a few lines and raps about an intense love relationship in which they vowed to stay together until death. Despite the surprising ending, you would still wish the best for each other. In addition to the music trio, the video also shows a couple performing an expressive dance to a quieter beat from Badmómzjay’s regular producer Jumpa.

“Don’t say goodbye to me/Because you’ve been a part of me for a long time/Believe me, I’ll stay with you/Until they engrave my name in stone”

Luciano ft. Morad – “Familia”

In “Familia,” Luciano talks, among other things, about the dark side of fame and explains that he finds support through his family. In a life where pressure is constant and notoriety can often get in the way of real relationships, the rapper’s latest track is a tribute to the people Luciano can count on. He also emphasizes the positive aspects of his success: being able to give support to his family. He brought Morad in for the song, which opens the work in Spanish and turns “Familia” into a bilingual track. Luciano also contributes some Spanish-language parts.

“But the sun is rising, today I open the door for Familia/Today we are better, never lost hope from night to night”

Jack Harlow – “Love On Me”

Jack Harlow’s single “Love On Me” is a bit out of line in our list because the rapper isn’t particularly emotional here – unless you count the music video scene in which he cuddles with a puppy. We’re dealing with a typical Jack Harlow jam here, in which the 25-year-old raps about his charisma and his advantages in romantic relationships on a poppy, happy beat. Both the song title and melody may sound familiar to some, as this is a sample of Cadillac Dale’s 1995 hit “Whatever.” With the single, Harlow heralds his fourth studio album JH4, which is scheduled to be released at the end of 2023.
