For years, Oasis brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher have been going head-to-head in the family championship of wisecracking. Their internal conflict has long been a legend. But now Liam has to leave the riot zone. For him, it’s down to the nitty gritty.

In an interview with the British “Mojo” magazine, he talks about the problems with his thyroid gland, which in turn have had further consequences. “My hips are screwed. I have bad arthritis, really bad! Upon examination, my bones turned out to be mud.”

Artificial hip? Liam Gallagher: “No way!”

The medical team there advised him to have an artificial hip, possibly even a double prosthesis. Liam Gallagher only replied: “No way! I think I’d rather be in pain. Which of course is ridiculous. If it’s going to be an operation, just get it fixed.”

The 49-year-old speaks of a “stigma” if you would already get a hip replacement at his age. “What’s next?” He was also put off by the “one in a million” chance that he could die during the operation. In a pinch, he would prefer to be in a wheelchair. Herbal sleeping pills would help to sleep through the night with the arthritis pain.

Despite his illness, he still wants to go on stage. His new album “C’mon You Know” will be released in May. Two big open-air concerts are scheduled for the summer at Knebworth Park in Hertfordshire, England. Gallagher also has tour dates around the world through November 2022. That sounds like quite a hassle.
