Hilversum’s deputy mayor closes Café Dudok after two explosions in two days

Café Dudok on the Larenseweg in Hilversum has been temporarily closed by the deputy mayor with an emergency order. Two explosions took place in two days, causing significant damage to the building.

“I can well imagine that local residents are concerned after these incidents and have questions about safety in their neighborhood,” Deputy Mayor Karin Walters said.

“To protect the neighborhood and restore the feeling of safety, I have therefore decided to take an administrative measure of temporary closure of the building. Hopefully, this will restore the familiar feeling of peace and security in this beautiful neighborhood.”

Injury

On the night of Sunday on Monday and Monday to Tuesday explosives were placed and lit at the Hilversum café. This can be seen at released camera images. No one was injured in the explosions, but the building suffered significant damage. The police are still investigating, but suspect that it concerns fireworks.

The owners of the café previously told NH that they were very shocked and that they did not know who was behind these explosives.
