A skiing legend Hilkka Riihivuori71, won two World Championship gold medals on Tuesday.

Riihivuori participated in the veterans’ World Cup skiing trips organized in Vuokatti and won both the traditional and free skiing competitions.

In the traditional three kilometer race, Riihivuori’s winning time was 8:39.0. Sweden came second Lubov Pospeshina (9.18,5) was clearly behind Riihivuori.

Riihivuori won in the free three kilometer race, which was skied right after, with a time of 8:14.9. Finland took a double victory in the race, as Marjut Vuorenmaa, who was 13 seconds behind Riihivuori, took the silver.

During his active career, Riihivuori (born Kuntola) achieved and won the World Championship relay gold in Lahti in 1978. In the same games, he also won silver at five kilometers. A total of six World Cup medals were collected in the trophy case.
