Hikers brave slippery paths in Waterleidingduinen: “Nice gliding through the forest”

On the first real winter weekend of the year, the KNMI warned this morning of code yellow. It is slippery and slippery in North Holland, but that doesn’t seem to stop anyone from taking a nice walk through the Amsterdam Water Supply Dunes.

Hikers in the dune area enjoy the cold, but a few find the slippery conditions exciting. “I fell once,” says an older lady. Not everyone is hesitant: “I love it! I’m glad it’s finally cold for once,” says another woman, who brought walking sticks with her just in case.

A third said that they are not bothered by slippery conditions at all: “I quite like it. Sliding through the forest a bit.” Another hiker completely agrees: “Yes, I love it. This is the best time of the year, right?”

Two runners also do not care about the risks. “If you’re not on the bike or in the car, you only have to keep an eye on yourself.” The other adds: “It’s a bit of a slippery slope when there’s a puddle, but we’ll get there.”
