The beach of Ostend was evacuated this afternoon near Fort Napoleon for a while after the alleged discovery of a grenade by a hiker. It turned out to be a large stray bullet and so the beach was quickly released. But the man who found the bullet took him to a rescue station. Ostend mayor Bart Tommelein (Open Vld) now warns: “Bringing such an object to a rescue post is very dangerous”.
