With the beautiful weather this weekend, many people went out. For example, Noord-Holland enjoys a summer day in May. Beach, terrace, bicycles, sea and ice cream, nobody was short of anything. “Yesterday we paddled in Alkmaar and today we went to the beach by bus,” says a beachgoer in Egmond aan Zee.
With peaks of up to 24 degrees, it was perfect weather to hit the road. North Holland of all places has the perfect places to enjoy this beautiful weather. And so today our NH reporter toured the hotspots in the province, enjoying the weather himself.
Beach
The beach at Egmond aan Zee was already full early this afternoon. “Cool off in the sea,” says a beachgoer coolly. Soon the water turned out to be very cold: “I’m going to lie back in the sun!”
Enough sand artworks were also built today. Where one chose a beautiful castle, the other preferred to dig a large hole in the sand. And of course the very youngest also fished with nets. “Shrimp, small crabs and a long worm” were among the catch.
Dunes
Schoorl also proved popular, the village along the dune attracted the necessary cycling tourists. “Nice along the dunes from village to village.” Long distances were also covered. “We came with the Solex, all the way from Noord-Scharwoude,” says a woman. “I just heard that we’re going to Bergen in a bit,” she laughs.
City
The city was also busy. Full terraces and happy faces. “We are having a nice drink today. The weather is nice, so what are you going to do differently”, laughs a cheerful terrace guest on the Waagplein in Alkmaar.
The Alkmaarders tried to keep their cool with ice cream and beers. All flavors of ice cream passed. “Vanilla, mango, strawberry”, it sounds delicious. “My favorite ice cream flavor.” And while eating the ice cream, people of course waved enthusiastically at passing boats in the canals.
