The Pascal Zuid, a pre-vocational secondary school in Zaandam, will close its doors on Tuesday because of “an online threat”. This is confirmed by a police spokesman reporting from Hart van Nederland. According to the news site, an anonymous sender sent a threatening email to teachers on Monday evening, after which the shocked school management decided to remain closed on Tuesday and teach online.
Hart van Nederland writes that the threatener added photos of a firearm, and that his or her text spoke of “people lying on the ground with blood”. The mail would say that Tuesday morning at 10.30 am “the whole school” would be killed. “Will be the worst day of your life, please,” the report concluded, according to the news site. “Greetings, your dear friend.” A spokesperson for the school confirms to the ANP news agency that in the email it was said with coarse language that the sender wanted to do something about students and teachers.
The police take the matter “extremely seriously,” said the spokesman, and are investigating who sent the anonymous email. School was over on Tuesday NRC not immediately available for comment.
