High fines for VfL Bochum and Co.

The sports court of the German Football Association (DFB) has imposed high fines on the Bundesliga club VfL Bochum as well as the third division clubs 1860 Munich and 1. FC Saarbrücken for setting off pyrotechnics.

Bochum has to pay 43,750 euros because at least 35 pyrotechnic objects were ignited by VfL fans before the league game at Bayer Leverkusen (4-0) on December 20th. The club can use up to 14,500 euros of this for security or violence prevention measures.

The Lions are being asked to pay 30,710 euros because their supporters ignited Bengali flares, rockets, smokers and indicators during three third division games and sometimes threw them onto the field – as well as other objects such as cups and lighters.

Saarbrücken received a fine of 13,300 euros because at least 38 pyrotechnic objects were set off during the cup round of 16 against Eintracht Frankfurt (2-0) on December 6th.
