High chance of rain during Sinterklaas arrivals

Anyone planning to go to a Sinterklaas arrival this weekend would do well to bring an umbrella or rain gear, because Saturday will be largely wet.

This Friday it is still friendly autumn weather with a variety of cloud fields and sunny moments. Some showers are possible in the coastal provinces, but elsewhere it will remain almost dry.

Saturday morning will start cloudy, regionally foggy, and quite cold with 1 to 4 degrees inland. “During the morning, an area of rain will move eastwards from the west across the country. In the far east it may remain dry all morning, but it will rain everywhere in the afternoon. As a result, Sinterklaas’ arrival in Gorinchem will also be rainy,” said Weeronline.

During the afternoon the rain will become showery, causing heavy downpours at times.

The temperature gradually rises from 5 to 8 degrees around noon to a maximum temperature of 7 to 11 degrees, which is only reached in the evening. The rain will move eastward during the evening.

Sunday

After the wet Saturday, the umbrella cannot go into the cupboard yet, because Sunday will also be a changeable day with showers and dry periods with occasional sun. The (fairly) strong southwest wind brings even softer air to our country: the temperature rises to 11 or 12 degrees in Groningen to 14 degrees in the south and west. Ten degrees is normal for the time of year.

The changeable weather will continue on Monday and it will be around 11 degrees. The wind will be south-westerly, but on Tuesday the wind will blow more from a northerly direction and it will become less mild. Moreover, the chances of precipitation appear to decrease temporarily.
