Columnist and journalist Hugo Camps has died at the age of 79 in his hometown of Knokke. Het Laatste Nieuws thus bids farewell to a journalistic icon who was greedy in life. Camps was a born observer who could portray greats from sports or politics like no other, but who above all turned the column – short, razor-sharp pieces in the newspaper – into a true art.
