If you receive a letter from lawyer Sébas Diekstra, you as a TV broadcaster know that you are in no time can get another program off the air. He assists victims of programs such as The Voice of Holland, Temptation Island and Familie Gillis: Massa is Kassa. All that nonsense that TV makers do ultimately ends up on his plate.

‘Gasping man!’

Ronald Molendijk, however, thinks he is a jellyfish, as he tells the desk Show news. “I’m really annoyed by that man. Really, for years, because he himself has been talking about panting, but if anyone is panting in the media, it is him. If anything happens, he is there.”

The music connoisseur, who played records with Voice bandleader Jeroen Rietbergen for years, continues: “For example, he himself says something like this: ‘I assist victims of the Voice case.’ A second later he says, “It’s one.” And then she is only a declarant in that case, isn’t she? No one has been convicted.”

Pathetic people

Jeroen is prosecuted for rape. His alleged victim is assisted by Sébas. “I actually just mean to indicate that the panting and constantly playing the card of: I only support all kinds of pathetic people… Whether they are or not, that is ultimately the judge’s decision,” says Ronald.

Colleague Bram Moszkowicz: “That’s right.”

Jargon

Ronald wonders what Bram, as a former lawyer, thinks about it. “How do you feel when you talk to such a person? Then he just has to stick to the jargon. In this case, in the Voice case, he represents a complainant.”

Bram: “Because he is not there now, I have to say in his defense: when you represent a victim as a lawyer, you tend to say ‘the victim’, because his client tells him that she is a victim. But you are right that in the end – and that is why you have to be so careful about canceling – the judge decides whether it is a victim.”

‘Incorrect’

Ronald had a good time with Sébas. “If you constantly draw the card: ‘I am a victim advocate’, then you should also be able to empathize with people, right? He causes quite a bit of damage by constantly shouting ‘victim’.”

He concludes: “Check social media. The Marco Borsato’s of this planet are being canceled terribly because there is someone constantly saying ‘victims’. It’s just not right.”
