‘He’s part of our family’: Backstreet Boys mourn the loss of Aaron Carter

At a concert in London, the Backstreet Boys commemorated singer Aaron Carter, who died on November 6th. He was the brother of Backstreets Boy Nick Carter. “He’s part of our family,” said Kevin Richardson at the O2 Arena performance, thanking the fans for their condolences.

“We all grew up together,” Richardson said. “We’ve been through ups and downs, ups and downs. You guys got through it with us, and we with you. Tonight we have heavy hearts because we lost a member of our family. We wanted to find a moment during the show to honor him.” The group then dedicated the song “Breathe” to Aaron Carter, which they sang a cappella.

Nick Carter shared pictures of himself and his brother on Instagram on Sunday as a memorial. “My heart is broken,” he wrote. “Even though my brother and I had a complicated relationship, my love for him never went away.”

Carter was found dead at his home in California on November 5. He was 34 years old. Carter released his first album AARON CARTER in 1997 when he was just nine years old. Already with the first single “Crush on You” he reached number 5 in the charts in Germany. With the follow-up album AARON’S PARTY (COME GET IT) he went on tour supporting the Backstreet Boys.
