Guido Weijers can count on a big snap from Gijs Groenteman and Marcel van Roosmalen, the men of the Media Inside program. They find the comedian anything but funny.

© RTL, NPO

It is an absolute TV record: Guido Weijers is hosting the New Year’s Eve conference for the eleventh time this year and that has never happened before. The comedian himself is very pleased with that; for the occasion he even held an entire photo shoot with the TV boss of RTL, Peter van der Vorst. With oil balls and all.

Not funny

Not everyone is enthusiastic about Guido’s record, because the comedian was discussed in a pretty ugly way last night in the live talk show Media Inside on NPO 3. Presenters Gijs Groenteman and Marcel van Roosmalen talk to their guests at the table about media news.

Gijs relentlessly: “I think it’s really great that someone with very little sense of humor has been able to do a New Year’s Eve conference so often.”

Shadow side

Marcel agrees completely. “It also has a dark side. I also find it shocking that so many people appreciate that small sense of humor so much. Who then watches it and what does that say about the Netherlands?”

He continues: “Bad humor, badly presented and then all like that and all just watch on New Year’s Eve. What is that? What is creeping into our people, Roelof, what do you think?”

Table guest Roelof Hemmen then laughs: “You shouldn’t go and look.”
