Talent’s contract is expiring
Last summer, Borussia Mönchengladbach turned down an offer for 18-year-old defensive talent Lukas Ullrich at Hertha BSC. The contract of the captain of the German U19 national team on the Spree expires in 2023. A few days ago, however, Ullrich’s father Ulf had doubts about the coach’s statements to the newspaper, although he was “very happy” about them: “I think it’s a dream for every Berlin youth player to be able to play in the Berlin Olympic Stadium. I find the atmosphere there outstanding. My son Lukas has the same feeling. However, I currently have doubts that Lukas actually has a perspective at Hertha BSC. On the one hand, Lukas has been training with the U23s again for quite a while – with a few exceptions – and not with the professionals. So I don’t share the head coach’s opinion. There is no open door. And there is also no basis for an ‘extension’ because there is currently no concrete offer.”

At Hertha, the contracts of the regular left-backs Marvin Plattenhardt and Maximilian Mittelstädt expire at the end of the season – it is not unlikely that you will want to hold initial talks with the two established professionals before you approach Ullrich with a more specific offer.
