Hertha star against FC Schalke 04 before comeback

Midfielder Jean-Paul Boetius from Bundesliga club Hertha BSC is about to make a comeback four weeks after being diagnosed with a testicular tumor.

“He’s completed a few sessions with the team again. However, we have to control the workload very carefully and decide after training whether he’s enough for a place in the squad again,” said coach Sandro Schwarz before the game on Sunday (5:30 p.m Clock / DAZN) against Schalke 04.

A testicular tumor was discovered in the 27-year-old Dutchman during a urological examination in mid-September, which had to be surgically removed. Subsequent chemotherapy was not necessary.

In the basement duel with the penultimate Schalke, Hertha wants to end its negative series in the Olympic Stadium at home. “The longing for a home win is great,” emphasized Schwarz. The Berliners last won against Stuttgart at home at the end of April and have been waiting for a threesome for six home games.

Schwarz is relaxed about the fact that Schalke is traveling to Berlin with a new coach. “It’s important to stay with us, to focus on our work,” he said. Schalke will be looked after by assistant coach Matthias Kreutzer on Sunday, who will replace Frank Kramer on an interim basis.
