Great news from Jean-Paul Boetius (28)!
The Hertha star posted a photo from the hospital on Friday evening. On it he could be seen with a big smile and he makes the victory sign with both hands.
A testicular tumor was found in the Dutchman on Wednesday after a urological examination, and he was already operated on in the Berlin Charité on Friday.
Boetius writes about his post: “The surgery was done and went well. Thank you for the heartwarming and uplifting words. I feel blessed and privileged all because of you! Special thanks to Hertha and to the medical team for the help.”
After Hertha teammate Marco Richter (24), Union’s Timo Baumgartl (26) and BVB star Sebastien Haller (28), Boetius was the fourth Bundesliga professional in just under six months to have a testicular tumor discovered. Testicular cancer was found in the three professionals.
Hertha manager Fredi Bobic (50) said about the Boetius diagnosis: “As bitter as this news is at first, we are full of hope and confidence that Jean-Paul will recover and return to our circle as soon as possible.”
Bobic continues: “Until his return, he will receive every conceivable support from us. We will stand together as the Hertha family and wish him only the best.”
