Hertha’s new boss Kay Bernstein (42) shook a lot of hands before the home game against Leverkusen and felt like he was everywhere.

Bernstein: “I took the S-Bahn before and after the game. I do that more often to get a different perspective of the city and to capture the mood of the Hertha fans.”

In the stadium he watched the game in the grandstand. Shortly before, he was directly opposite in the opposite grandstand: “There we honored lifelong Herthaners with lifelong membership.”

Bernstein, who had wished for 50,000 fans, says of the crowd of 40,000 fans: “The much greater thing is that everyone who was there went home satisfied and realized: Something is growing together here. And we still have to win the rest back.”
