Hamburg/Berlin (dpa) – Marcel Lotka does not expect a quick decision about his future at Hertha BSC.
The 20-year-old goalkeeper had announced his move to the Borussia Dortmund reserve team in March before he rose from number five to number one in Berlin. After his good performances for Hertha in the Bundesliga, his current employer insists on the Polish junior national goalkeeper staying on. Lotka herself does not seem averse to staying in Berlin.
Hertha managing director Fredi Bobic fears a legal dispute with BVB. “I still don’t know what’s going to happen,” said Lotka after the 2-0 win in the relegation against Hamburger SV, with which the Berliners secured relegation. Lotka was unable to play because of the concussion he sustained in the last regular game of the season in a 2-1 loss to Dortmund. Lotka reported that he still had a flickering in front of his eyes and was banned from exercising.
In the goalkeeper hierarchy, regular Alexander Schwolow was clearly ahead of Lotka until his muscle injury in the spring. In the relegation, the Dane Oliver Christensen celebrated his professional debut for the Berliners. In addition, two goalkeepers were under contract at Hertha in veteran Rune Jarstein and Nils Körber.
