Berlin (AP) – Jordan Torunarigha is leaving Bundesliga soccer club Hertha BSC by summer. The 24-year-old defender is moving to the Belgian first division club KAA Gent on loan with immediate effect, as Hertha announced. The loan does not include a purchase option.
Born in Chemnitz, he has been playing for Hertha BSC since 2006 and signed his first professional contract in December 2016. Since that time, Torunarigha has made 81 appearances for the Blue and Whites in all competitions, contributing six goals and five assists. The defender also played 30 games in the German U-national teams and took part in the Olympic Games in Tokyo last year.
“Jordan told us at short notice that he would like to gain experience outside of Hertha BSC by the end of the season,” said sporting director Fredi Bobic, “I’m sure that after more than 15 years at Hertha BSC this change of atmosphere will do him good for his development and he will return to us strengthened afterwards.”
