Hertha coach Pal Dardai is in a good mood after the success in the DFB Cup. “If we play like we did recently in Mainz, the team has a real charisma, then we have a chance against every opponent.”
The coach of the second division team said that, still inspired by the previous 3-0 win in the second cup round against first division team 1. FSV Mainz 05.
“I’d like to see that more often. Not to hold our noses up because we are so good, but because the mentality and the team performance were right.”
However, his team cannot rest on their laurels before the league game at FC Hansa Rostock on Sunday (1:30 p.m. / Sky). “We have to confirm that now and show it again and again,” said the 47-year-old, who emphasized that he wanted to play “a good game” with his team despite the expected heated atmosphere in the Ostseestadion.
“Regardless of whether the fire brigade comes or the rockets fly, sport should remain sport,” said Dardai, who and his team in Rostock can rely on the support of 2,600 fans who have traveled with them.
Serious about personnel problems: “We will solve it very well”
Although Hertha BSC’s central defense is missing two regulars due to the suspensions of Toni Leistner and Marc Oliver Kempf, goalkeeper Tjark Ernst is confident. “Of course a lot is changing because there are now other, younger players who are in front of me. But we also train together and are well-rehearsed,” said the 20-year-old: “It will work out and then we will solve it very well.”
His coach Pal Dardai indicated on Friday that he was already thinking about what the restructuring could look like. Linus Gechter is an alternative, although it is not yet certain whether he will be fit for 90 minutes after his injury.
Dardai: “We can rotate a lot”
In any case, a plus is that he has two players at his disposal, Pascal Klemens and Marton Dardai, who can be used variably. “We can rotate and open up a lot. That makes it much more difficult for the opponents,” said the coach.
He doesn’t yet know 100 percent who exactly will play. “I have an idea, but we still have a little time to make a decision,” said the Hungarian native.
Ernst is not afraid of possible increased competition with Marius Gersbeck. “I don’t really care about that. “I’m concentrating on doing my job here from week to week and being a strong support for the team,” said the Stuttgart native.
