Hertha BSC with transfer coup: “Speed, will to fight and determination”

After relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga, Hertha BSC is pushing ahead with its personnel planning – and announces another newcomer.

As the Berliners announced on Tuesday, top Danish talent Gustav Christensen is moving from FC Midtjylland to the capital. Hertha BSC instead of the 18-year-old with a contract until 2027.

“We are pleased that in Gustav we have been able to gain a talented and exciting attacking winger for our club, who, in addition to his footballing skills, brings speed, willingness to fight and determination,” said sports director Benjamin Weber.

Christensen has “showed very stable performances in the U-area over the years, demonstrating his goal threat and potential. We are confident that he will continue on this path in the blue and white jersey,” added Weber.

Christensen’s move to Hertha BSC was already apparent last spring. At that time, several media had unanimously reported the upcoming obligation. However, it only became official now that it was clear that the old lady would continue in the second division.

Hertha BSC is driving squad upheaval

Positive from Hertha BSC’s point of view: For Christensen, whose contract with Midtjylland expires, there will be no transfer fee. Instead, the clammy relegated only has to transfer training compensation in the low six-digit range to Denmark.

Hertha BSC had already signed winger Fabien Reese from future league rivals Holstein Kiel on a free transfer. In addition, the contract of U19 captain Pascal Klemens was extended until 2026.

“Pascal is undoubtedly one of the greatest talents of the 2005 vintage and has enormous potential. We will support him as best we can in his development,” Weber explained.
