Hertha BSC: Serious allegations against members of the Executive Committee

A new president was elected at Hertha BSC. And he witnessed serious allegations against parts of his presidency.

The extraordinary general meeting of Hertha BSC brought forth Kay Bernstein as President, Fabian Drescher as Vice President and Hans-Joachim Bläsing and Tim Kauermann as new members of the Executive Committee. But at the event in the capital, serious allegations by blind footballers also came to light.

One speaker said he overheard blind football management asking young people to buy alcohol for them. Minors who were doing a voluntary social year (short: FSJ) at the association were also asked. In addition, there should have been a hateful interaction.

A short time later, a member of the coaching staff spoke up himself and reported that the pitch built for them did not meet the requirements. As a result, the ex-club was “begged” to be allowed to play on its pitch. In all of these situations, there would have been little support from the management around Lutz Kirchhof (football department director).

Also precarious: The current presidency would have known about it – and not acted. Ingmar Pering and Peer Mock-Sümer were explicitly mentioned, both of whom were part of the previous Executive Committee.

Fabian Drescher, now Vice President, has also been a member since 2016. He said of the allegations: “We take these allegations very seriously, we will investigate them and work them out. But first we have to discuss the whole thing internally as soon as we have everything we need on the table.” At least there was some applause from the fans.
